We’ve all heard about plastic surgery, you go under the knife and come out with a different nose, face, arm, legs or breasts! Though traditional plastic surgery comes at a costly price, not only do you pay out of pocket but you also pay in pain and time out of work so sometimes having plastic surgery can be a little more difficult than we would actually like it to be. So what are our other options? Not necessarily knew to the cosmetic world but also not as popular are Non-Surgical cosmetic treatments. Non-surgical treatments have become ever so popular in the United States as well as internationally because of the convenience these non-surgical treatments offer.

Injectables and Dermal Fillers

Non-surgical treatments can include anything from injectables/dermal fillers, to laser treatments, and even body contouring which is why they are gaining popularity rapidly. These types of non-surgical treatments claim to have little-to-no downtime, or time away from the office or being active, little-to-no pain, non-invasive (no knives!) and for the most part, cost significantly less than traditional plastic surgery.

Non-surgical procedures such as injectables and dermal fillers like Botox, Dysport, Radiesse, Restylane, Juvederm, and Sculptra improve the appearance of aging on your face. Botox and dysport are very simple treatments that can temporarily smooth and reduce the appearance of deep folds, wrinkles, crow’s feet and frown lines. Botox is also FDA approved to help improve excessive sweating and severe migraines. Dermal fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse work to restore volume and fullness to the skin and to correct moderate to severe wrinkles and folds. These dermal fillers have become increasing popular because of their safety, the dramatic and immediate effects, and they have the ability to last up to a year. Sculptra is another injectable that is known for replacing lost collagen in the face. This protein is responsible for skin strength and elasticity and can also help improve sagging skin.

Laser Treatments

Other popular non-surgical treatments include laser treatments that work to treat many different areas of the body from the face down to your legs. Skin tightening therapy with the Sciton BBL laser technology offered at this medical spa in Chicago uses a combination of cooling and pulsed light treatment to create a rise in temperature used to activate the collagen in your skin. Results can be seen immediately after treatment with a series of treatments ever 2-4 weeks while the skin continues to improve over the next six months. Other types of laser treatments include laser acne treatment, laser hair removal, and even spider vein treatments that traditional plastic surgery cannot repair.
