When talking about cosmetic procedures, most patients get nervous about the risks, recovery time and/or costs of surgery. Non-surgical procedures like injectables were created, to provide immediate results for minor improvements with minimal risks, little to no downtime and at a fraction of the cost. Most people’s first questions about liquid facelifts is, what are they? A liquid facelift involves using a combination of fillers and/or freezers, in the face to get similar results to a surgical facelift. The major differences between a liquid facelift and a surgical facelift are:
- The results are not permanent, like any filler or freezer the results are temporary as the filler and freezer substances are absorbed by your body over time.
- In the short term, the costs are much less than a surgical facelift, however, due to the transient nature of injectables the costs can become considerably high over time.
- A liquid facelift does not restore sagging skin in your neck area.
- The liquid facelift is great if you don’t have the time for recovery of a facelift, they can improve your appearance with no down-time.
Another common question among patients is what is used on a liquid facelift? On a liquid facelift some dermal fillers, like Juvederm, Radiesse and Restylane are used in conjunction with injections of botulinum toxin, like Botox and Dysport.
Botulinum toxins work by blocking nerve impulses to the injected muscles preventing the patient from making the expression that causes facial wrinkles. Dermal fillers restore lost facial volume by filling in crevices, smoothing wrinkles and restoring facial contours.
Depending on your body and the filler or freezer used, the results can last up to 1-2 years because some injectable have a longer life than others. We can’t stop aging, but we can certainly delay the effects with a liquid facelift. Consult your local physician, nurse or aesthetician to find out if a liquid facelift is the right solution for you.
